Privacy & Cookie Policy

This policy explains what personal data Sagien ("we", "us") collects, why, and what rights you have. Sagien is operated by Sagien, LLC. For any privacy matter, contact us at chris@sagien.com.
1. Our two roles
For account and site data (your name, email, workspace details, billing records, usage logs) we decide how and why data is processed, acting as the data controller.
For customer content — the interview transcripts, documents, and generated outputs inside your workspace — your organization is the controller and we process that content only on your instructions, as a processor. Interview transcripts frequently contain personal data about interview participants; your organization is responsible for having the right to upload and process that data. A data processing agreement (DPA) is available on request.
2. Data we collect
- Account data — name, email address, hashed password, workspace membership and role.
- Billing data — subscription plan, transcript-unit usage, invoices. Card details are handled by our payment provider (Stripe, once billing is enabled) and never touch our servers.
- Customer content — transcripts and documents you upload, and the notes, quotes, summaries, and presentations generated from them.
- Technical data — IP address, browser type, request logs, and error reports (via Sentry) used to keep the service running and secure.
- Support communications — messages you send us.
3. How we use data
- Providing the service, including AI processing of your content (below).
- Operating, securing, and debugging the platform.
- Billing and account administration.
- Transactional email — account and service notifications only. We do not send marketing email without separate consent.
We do not use advertising trackers, do not run third-party analytics on your content, and do not sell or rent personal data.
4. AI processing
Sagien's core function sends your uploaded content to large language model providers — currently Anthropic and Google — to extract insights, quotes, and summaries and to draft presentation content. These providers process content transiently to return results and are engaged under terms that prohibit using your content to train their models. Generated output stays inside your workspace.
5. Subprocessors
We use the following service providers to operate Sagien:

6. Storage, security, and retention
- All traffic is encrypted in transit (TLS). Files are stored in access-controlled object storage and served through short-lived signed URLs.
- Workspaces are isolated per organization with role-based permissions.
- Customer content is retained while your account is active. On account termination or verified deletion request, content is deleted within 30 days, after which it persists only in encrypted backups on a rolling retention schedule before aging out.
7. International transfers
Processing currently takes place primarily in the United States. Where data of EU/UK individuals is transferred, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses with our subprocessors.
8. Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Contact us to exercise them. If you are an interview participant whose data appears in a customer's transcript, the customer organization is the controller of that content — we will refer your request to them and assist as required.
9. Cookies & similar technologies
Sagien sets only strictly necessary items. We use no analytics cookies, no advertising cookies, and no third-party tracking of any kind — which is why you don't see a cookie consent banner.

If we ever introduce optional cookies (for example, analytics), we will update this policy and ask for consent where the law requires it before setting them. Fonts and all other page assets are served from our own servers, so viewing this site does not transmit your IP address to third-party content networks.
10. Children
Sagien is a business tool and is not directed at children under 16.
11. Changes to this policy
We will post updates on this page and, for material changes, notify account holders by email. The "Last updated" date above reflects the current version.
